Life as a Wardrobe

There's an analogy I often use, and it's the perception of life as a wardrobe. Patience accompanies me on this journey.

Everyone encounters the need to declutter and organize their life at least once. And invariably, the moment arrives for the task of sorting the wardrobe.

It usually starts with a fairly high level of confidence as we approach the wardrobe and throw all its contents onto the bed.

Next comes the sorting stage, where we go through each piece of clothing, evaluating its purpose.

And then, deep within the schizophrenic process of sorting, doubt and uncertainty about the worthiness of the process begin to creep in.

Many people stop right at the point when half of the wardrobe is thrown back inside, and the other half is scattered haphazardly around the room.

I consistently feel that my life is like that very wardrobe. There are times when the inside is bursting and overflowing, and then I'm asked to tidy up, take everything out to reorganize, discard the unnecessary, and put back in only what I need.

But most of the time, understanding that I need to organize and arrange doesn't make the process simple.

I liken this process to good therapy.

In good therapy, everything is thrown out haphazardly and without intention.

Then, together, the connections between thoughts and experiences start to form, between the hidden and the revealed aspects.

We traverse up and down through the layers of consciousness.

Together, we create order and tranquility.

A wardrobe that is tidy and organized.

And so, just like life and its continuous cycles, the wardrobe is a reminder that reorganization, introspection, and the effort to bring order are not one-time tasks but ongoing endeavors that weave the fabric of our existence.

In the same way, life can be compared to the creation of a painting. At first, it's a blank canvas, full of potential. As we go through experiences, memories, and emotions, we apply brushstrokes of various colors. Some strokes are vibrant and joyful, while others are more subdued and contemplative. Over time, the canvas becomes a complex masterpiece, reflecting the layers of our journey.

Moreover, life's journey is akin to composing a symphony. We start with individual notes and melodies, representing different experiences and emotions. As we progress, we weave these elements together, harmonizing highs and lows, joys and sorrows. Just like a composer, we strive to create a harmonious and meaningful arrangement, resulting in a unique and resonant life composition.
